A three-day gathering at the end of August, opening on Friday evening and closing Sunday afternoon.
The rate of change in technology, ecology, politics, and culture has outpaced the ability of most institutions and individuals to metabolise it. Public conversation about that change often oscillates between overconfidence and paralysis. Most thoughtful people live somewhere in between — sensing that the existing frameworks are struggling to keep pace, and looking for better conditions in which to think.
This is an attempt to create some of those conditions, in good company, for three days. The orientation is sober without being alarmist. It assumes that the people coming are already engaging seriously with the questions this moment raises, and that what they may be looking for is not more arguments but better company and a higher quality of contact across the domains they work in.
People doing serious work on technology and AI, on ecological and civilisational change, on meaning and inner development, on institutions, governance, and the longer arc of cultural transformation. There is more substantive work of this kind happening in the region than is publicly visible, and the people doing it rarely meet each other under good conditions. The bet is that bringing them into the same place for three days — across domains that don't normally share a vocabulary — produces a kind of contact that the standard formats no longer support.
Friday evening — an opening evening with food, music, and conversation. Mostly the people closest to the work, plus a wider circle of invited guests. Held with some intention but not over-programmed.
Saturday — the more structured day. Framing conversations, curated formats, and space built in for one-to-ones and smaller exchanges. Fewer presentations, more conversations between people who actually need to be in the same room.
Sunday — unconference. Participant-led sessions, open space, and a slower closing. Time for the threads opened on Saturday to find their own development.
The scale, the line-up, and most of the specifics are still being shaped as contributors come on board. The gathering will be somewhere between intimate and substantial, depending on who ends up alongside us. Presumably 50 - 120 people, we will say more as things firm up.
We are looking for people who would like to host a thread, curate an arc of the programme, contribute to a panel or conversation, bring a network, or help with production. The line-up will form around the people who say yes.
